This sucks, just downloaded and install the new service pack and now I can’t deleting any files on my system. Everytime I press delete or Shift + delete on and file what ever it might be explorer would stall and restart. The new SP sucks, and after I finish installing it, it trys to order me around about changing my settings to this and this and this, well get out of my face and let me have my old system back. It was much better!

If you’re having trouble with the service pack, you should be able to remove it using Add/Remove programs in control panel. Windows XP Service Pack 2 should be near the bottom of the list. You can remove the SP by clicking Remove. After you remove the SP and reboot, be sure to run Windows Update and make sure your firewall is turned on.

  3. PincerPrice says:

Yeah, this SP does suck, I’ve been using the Google toolbar to block pop-ups, and now it doesn’t do the job it was doing before. Its almost as if they’re interfering with each other. Also, I don’t need to be told to "worry" about programs I open everyday.

Have just installed SP 2 for windows xp, I disabled the firewall, but Video Live IM does not work.

  5. Jason says:

  6. George says:

I just installed sp2 and now i cant use my printer. is there an update i can get or what?

  7. Matt says:

Yeah, every time I go to open a folder or look at the properties of a file explorer will crap out or Dr Watson will crap out. Basically, it will cause the whole system to not respond until you end explorer or end all the Dr Watson processes. Thanks a lot Microsoft.

  8. carriewoo says:

Connectivity problems after SP2. Took many phone calls, a service tech visit. Final solution was remove SP2 and Restore. MSFT owes RoadRunner a lot of $ for the cost of restoring my Internet connection.

  9. Pete says:

i’ve tried everything to get my system to even RUN after rebooting from the "upgrade." Thank God for system restore, but after reading your comments I’m sorta glad it never ran correctly in the first place!!

hi people I have had no problems with installing sp2, the only thing I have noticed is it,s a bit over the top with security and now my blog this feature wont work on my links bar otherwise I have not discovered any other problems…… ozziemozzie

  11. When you want to view an adobe acrobat help file, you can’t open it with I.E. without right clicking the toolbar and clicking alow block content, and then clicking yes an a are you sure window! There is no way in the settings to shut this !@#$% security feature off.

Since my service pack 2 instal, My computer takes much longer to reboot and I had extra security start up icons on my task bar that I had to spend time removing.

  12. Tim says:

Turn off MS’s Firewall if you are using something else, like McAfee. You have to work around the problems that Gates created with this. Once install you can delete it and do a restore, but, that does not get rid of it completely. I know, I tried, now I am working around it. I don’t understand why Gates does not allow the program to be installed by component, not in totality. Oh, well…

  13. Charlie says:

I am (was!) on Roadrunner from my home computer. Loaded SP2, have had connectivity problems ever since. Noticed another comment from Carriewoo indicating similar problems. Before I uninstall SP2 or take other drastic measures, is anyone else out there having similar problems? Microsoft had better resolve this!!
