Microsoft Acquires Groove Networks

Microsoft on Thursday said it will acquire Groove Networks and make Groove's founder, Ray Ozzie, chief technology officer at the software giant.

Terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.

Microsoft said it will incorporate Groove's collaboration software into its Office line of desktop productivity applications. Ozzie, the inventor of Lotus Notes and a collaboration guru, will report to Bill Gates, Microsoft's chairman and chief software architect.

Does this mean that office 12 will have its integration done with the Groove dynamics engine?

  2. Mark Bower says:

Groove is coming late to the Office 12 party. It was already well through the dev cycle when acquired, so expect some integration with Office 12 initially with more to follow over time.
