GroupPOP is a new mobile application for iPhone and Android that uses the Microsoft Azure cloud platform. GroupPOP is a place to chat with local people who have like-minded interests.

Start chatting and making new friends in your local area, whether it be at a nightclub, concert, public transport or whenever you are traveling and want to know what’s happening nearby.

GroupPOP provides quick group conversations displayed on Google maps, allowing you to send and receive instant updates, location details and photos without any text messaging fees.

Features:
– Search the globe for interesting groupPOPs and join in the chat.
– Use #tags in your groupPOP description, so people can easily find your group.
– Invite your favourite users to groupPOPs you create and follow people you like.
– Make private groups for just your friends or people nearby.

You can download the app on Android through the Google Play store or on iPhone through the App Store

Forte Code Pty Ltd is a Melbourne based company founded in January 2015 for the sole purpose of designing and developing mobile applications.

We wanted to create an app which we could use to connect to local people, see what’s happening nearby and make new friends without having to use hook-up type apps.

After almost a year of development and help from Microsoft, we are proud to say the app is finished and now available for download on both the Google Play store and the App Store.

Thanks to Microsoft’s BizSpark program it provided us the ability to scale our infrastructure up or down as needed based on demand. With the monthly Azure credits and access to the latest product software we were able to bring the app to market with a low cost overhead. Azure’s virtual machines are flexible in creating a load balanced service oriented architecture using the latest Microsoft technologies or non-Microsoft technologies such as MongoDB.
