Tech salaries in Australia grew only 1.37% in December quarter on soft demand

Melbourne, Australia 5 February, 2015 – Tech career marketplace, Gooroo, reports that IT salaries have increased slightly by 1.37% in Q4 ‘14 to $111,277.

This compares to an increase in the US of 11.63% (average US$88,826) and a decrease in the UK of 0.19% (average £52,898).

In Australia, demand during Q4 ‘14 dropped compared with Q3. This is most likely due to the cyclical nature of hiring in Australia, with most demand being seen in the first half of the year. The fall in demand also is due to a strong drop in advertised jobs for C++ Developers, Network Administrators, and Data Scientists. .NET Developers bucked the trend with a small rise of 4% on an already strong base.

Gooroo’s Tech Salary Index draws insights from over 4,000,000 recently advertised software development, engineering, and technology analyst roles across Australia, the United States, and Great Britain, and from individual members of the Gooroo community.

Gooroo uses advanced people analytics to find the relationships between tech skills, careers, salaries, experience levels and regions. This data delivers a reliable benchmark of demand and salary trends across hundreds of IT skills.
