What do you honestly think of adCenter API?

Whether you’ve been using adCenter API since 2006, or just recently started, here’s your chance to provide feedback on your API experience.

We want to know what you think works, what doesn't and what you'd like to see more/less of in the future.  It’s your candid feedback that helps steer the planning of future releases, so if you'd like to see something change or if there's a feature you'd love to see added, let your voice be heard.

The more detail you provide in terms of how you would improve existing functionality, what new features you’d like to see, or what problems we can help you solve, the more actionable that information will be to our development, documentation, and support teams.

We’re looking forward to your comments.

Thank you.

API is short for Application Programming Interface. In the case of adCenter, the API enables developers to programmatically interact with the adCenter platform.

If you previously used the Yahoo! search marketing APIs, I recommend you view the documentation at community.microsoftadvertising.com/…/migrating-from-search-marketing-api-to-adcenter-api.aspx to begin your migration to the adCenter API.

If you are not an API user, but instead have relied on the user interface for your search marketing, I recommend using the resources at http://www.searchalliance.com to get started.

    Thank you.

I'm a Yahoo ad migrate & feel like I'm starting in the middle of a calculus class..  What's API ?  But the real issue I have to google, google to find out.

A very good post and certainly these are points really useful.

It would be nice if this would be out of Beta. I am using the adwords API and would love to be able to cross-submit adgroups, keywords, settings, etc. Any word on a public release, or the addition of more Beta users?

    Thank you

Thank you for your interest in getting access to the adCenter API.

Regarding a timeframe when more API users might be added, check this site again in January to see if there are any plans announced to open the API.

That's not a guarantee that the API will be opened in January, just that this site (community.microsoftadvertising.com/…/api) would be the place to determine whether an annoucement has been made.

    Thank you.

I would be interested in getting access to the api.  I was working on a small in-house monitoring application to combine all the web metrics I watch.  Any chance I can get read-only access?

  7. Walter.Poupore@microsoft.com says:

A read-only version of the API is not offered.

If the API is expanded to more customers in the future, this blog (community.microsoftadvertising.com/…/api) will have that announcement.

    Thank you.

Sorry, went a bit crazy with the reference to suggested methods, that is not what I was trying to say at all. Rather, a quick way to access the account structure without iterations with through the whole structure. (as discussed here social.msdn.microsoft.com/…/a3cc8bf0-868e-4740-bc1d-8cab00f7d581)

It would be VERY useful to have a quicker way of accessing all the elements (adgroups, ads, keywords etc) within a given campaign, without having to iterate through every level. I have seen this issue mentioned by several other people in numerous posts. Locally loading the account structure via the API is very slow compared to adwords. Some methods that enable this, such as getAllAdGroups(long campaignId), getAllKeywords(long adGroupId), getAllAds(long adGroupId) would be much appreciated!
