Living Your Values

At Microsoft, we are fortunate enough to have a variety of guest speakers come to campus. Recently, Gary Erickson, the co-founder of Cliff Bar came to talk about how his company got started and how his values kept him from selling his company AND how they shape the way the company operates. I think this was the start of a tour to pitch his new book: Raising the Bar : Integrity and Passion in Life and Business: The Story of Clif Bar, Inc. He reminded me of how I value the outdoors, so I added some new links to my site here for Skiing in Washington State (specifically in Western WA). But he also reminded me of Microsoft's values, which are also right in line with my own. I love how Cliff Bar encourages environmental responsibilities. My wife and I do our part via the Environmental Defense Fund, PAWS, the House Rabbit Society, and by trying to live by my little my environmental mantra: Reduce, Reuse, Recycle, Replant, and Rethink.

I'll get back (start?) to the technical stuff sooner or later. Or maybe I'll just stick with the "here is what life at Microsoft is like". Please let me know via the feedback if you have a preference.
