www.iis.net

Today marks the public availability of Windows Vista Beta 2 and Windows Longhorn Server Beta 2 as well as the first public availability of our next generation Web server, IIS7. In conjunction with bit availability, I’m happy to announce the launch of an incredibly exciting community focused on developers and ITPros who use IIS – www.iis.net. This site features an exciting community experience, incredible design, and deep technical content to support IIS6, IIS7 and beyond. This site reflects a herculean effort by the product team to enable you to have the best possible technical information possible about IIS7 and an amazing dedication to customer satisfaction and experience.

www.asp.net

In 2001 we launched www.asp.net as a place for the product team to begin interacting with the ASP.NET community directly through forums and content. Today, you have helped turn www.asp.net into the largest, most trafficked asp.net community in the world with over 55M page views, 5M unique sessions, and over 1TB of traffic per month. The forums are the largest aggregate and active knowledge base about the product anywhere with 220,000 users contributing to over 452,000 threads and almost 1.2 million posts – we typically add over 200 users, 300 threads, and 1000 posts per day.

This launch includes an overhaul to the look and feel of the site focused on cleaning up the appearance and general fit and finish. The effort also included a major investment in the sites information architecture to make it easier for you to find the content you need to excel on our platform with content for users of all skill levels. Now you can find out how to get started, learn the technology, and join the community witih more ease then ever before.

In the coming weeks we are going to begin piloting a localiation effort in partnership with the Microsoft subsidaries and local communities to provide core local language content and experiences on www.asp.net – stay tuned for more information as it becomes available.

weblogs.asp.net

Today it drives about 30M PageViews per month and 4M unique sessions. The upgrade serves as the first public site to be rolled out on Community Server 2.1 and will prepare us to begin opening up the free blogging service to new membership in the next 3-4 months. The weblogs.asp.net homepage consistenlty provides the most pertinent and informative content about the Web platform from both internal and external bloggers. Special thanks to Telligent and our community for making this happen.
