Visual Web Developer Express Edition

Do you know how good it feels to type that as the title?  You probably can't really imagine.  I've been 'not' talking about the Express products since I started this blog.  I've been itching for us to announce this *brand new,* low-cost, Web focused product.  And now we did.  And now I'm at a total loss for words.

I've been a bit busy readying for the announcement here at TechEd Europe in Amsterdam (where I'm writing this from), making sure our MSDN properties were ready, getting started content, quickstarts, and more.  Not everything happened perfectly, but let me give you a few details --

1) We have 19 BRAND NEW ASP.NET 2.0, Visual Studio 2005 and Visual Web Developer Express Edition releated articles that will begin posting regularly on the MSDN dev centers.  The first two from Stephen Walther have posted on https://msdn.microsoft.com/asp.net/ talking about security and caching.  Others, covering a wide range of tools and platform content will continue to post over the coming months!

2) The Visual Web Developer Express Edition Guided Tour is up but not complete.  In the next few days, the 'content' will be updated with a full end to end application and the guided tour will walk you through building it in any language you prefer (VB, C#, and J#).

3) I must apologize for this, but we ran into some last minute trouble getting the ASP.NET 2.0 Quickstarts hosted online.  All the crunch in the end, and this slipped a bit.  BUT we are actively working on it and I hope to have it online in the next week or so.  Keep your eyes on the link, we have some great quickstarts that show you how to truly exercise the ASP.NET 2.0 framework and take advantage of Visual Web Developer Express.

4) More Starter Kits.  In the box, The Personal Web Site Starter kit, but I have more in development and will be releasing them to the Web over time between now and Beta 2.  Hopefully I can get out 2 or 3 more kits before the middle of November.

I'm sure there is more, but I'm a bit frazzled :) -- Have you heard about the Summer of Express contest? Check it out -- I get to judge and I'm very excited to see all the great Starter Kit submissions.

There is so much going on out there, I'm reading the ASP.NET Forum for Visual Web Developer Express, seeing the blogs, it is so great.

Any specific questions?  Blog it here, and I can address them directly.  Back to work :)
