Come help us get our developers excited and enabled to build smart client applications as the Product Manager for Windows Forms. One of the most important business challenges for Microsoft is reinvigorate client application development and to prepare our customer base for Windows “Longhorn.” A critical aspect of our efforts relies getting our developers onto the .NET Framework and writing managed code with Windows Forms.

 

We are immediately hiring for a Product Manager who can excite developers about our current generation of smart client technologies such as Windows Forms, and run the developer programs for this critical technology. Strategic responsibilities include developing product strategy, marketing programs, worldwide field engagement, competitive analysis, product positioning, strategic content development, customer engagement, analyst relations, and other traditional product management responsibilities.

 

As the Product Manager for Windows Forms, you will have a passion for developers, and love to work directly with developers. You need strong verbal and written communication skills, and excellent leadership skills. Qualifications should include a minimum of 2 years experience in the business and marketing of commercial software to developers and experience writing software. Additional qualifications include: strong knowledge of the software development marketplace; solid understanding developer technologies and Microsoft’s developer solutions – specifically Visual Studio .NET and the .NET Framework; superb analytical and data driven decision-making skills; the ability to think strategically about business issues and develop business cases; strong facilitation, communication, and presentation skills; the ability to work across groups and across disciplines. Applicants need to have a flexible can-do attitude, be self-sufficient, and be able to create solid working relationships across other business and technical teams.

Qualifications: The position also requires innovative approaches to marketing and perception changing, including being at the forefront of competitive marketing campaigns. A strategic voice into the planning and positioning of marketing strategy is expected.

 

The ideal candidate has 5-7 years experience managing analyst executive relationships, strong analytical skills, manages process well, and has a demonstrated history of successful cross group collaboration in the business groups. Thorough understanding of Microsoft products and technologies and the development cycle in order to have an effect of the product teams. Proven leadership and communication skills to all levels of management are critical. Candidates should have a strong background in designing and delivering technical global software solution, in understanding technology at a deep level, and in working closely with other teams to drive requirements to an innovative result. Team building and management skills are a must, as is a willingness to design, develop, and deliver in cooperation with the Development and Test teams. Candidates must have a demonstrated ability to understand customers’ scenarios and to make trade-offs in order to ship software. Demonstrated successes in communicating and working with executives in Microsoft and partner companies is an absolute requirement.

We are immediately hiring for a Director of Product Management who can drive the developer transition to Longhorn for Microsoft, and run the developer programs for this next major release Windows. Strategic responsibilities include developer product strategy, marketing programs, worldwide field engagement, competitive analysis, product positioning, strategic content development, customer engagement, analyst relations, and other traditional product management responsibilities. Activities may include expanding a successful developer ecosystem program to each of our major subsidiaries, leveraging the existing VARs to synergistically our developer solution, and similar high-level initiatives.

 

As the Director of Product Management, you will have a passion for developer technologies, and love to work directly with developers. You need strong verbal and written communication skills, and excellent leadership skills. Qualifications should include a minimum of 6 years experience in the business and marketing of commercial software to developers and experience in a leadership role with at least one full commercial product release cycle. Additional qualifications include: strong knowledge of the software development marketplace; solid understanding developer technologies and Microsoft’s developer solutions – specifically Visual Studio .NET and the .NET Framework; superb analytical and data driven decision-making skills; the ability to think strategically about business issues and develop business cases; strong facilitation, communication, and presentation skills; the ability to work across groups and across disciplines.
