As a senior technical product manager for Visual Studio Enterprise Tools, you will own product planning, product and technical marketing, and market readiness for our new enterprise development framework. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

§ Defining the vision for our enterprise development framework and developing the marketing plan necessary to execute on the vision.

§ Working closely with customers and partners to define scenario-based requirements for an enterprise framework.

§ Driving customer and partner requirements into the product plan and maintaining a strong advocacy for their needs.

§ Creating messaging and positioning for partners and customers.

§ Representing Visual Studio Enterprise Tools around the world with multiple audiences, both external and internal: press, analysts, customers and partners, including delivering technical presentations at conferences and customer and partner sites.

§ Working across the Server and Tools group to ensure consistency in the design and implementation of enterprise frameworks.

§ Understanding the competitive landscape and crafting a strategy to help Microsoft win customers, mindshare, and revenue.

§ Arming the Microsoft field with targeted content, demos, and resources.

Successful candidates will demonstrate strong strategic thinking ability and excellent communications skills, with a proven track record for delivering high quality results and strong leadership with product management and development teams. This role requires a strong passion and proclivity for technology, a heavy focus on application frameworks and enterprise development, technical product marketing, and project management. Candidates will become knowledgeable about customers, competitors, and market dynamics, and will be responsible for using this knowledge to further Microsoft’s efforts to win large-scale enterprise and ISV customers.

Academic Developer Business Manager

Help us win the hearts and minds of student developers and computer science faculty around the world. A critical part of Microsoft’s developer strategy worldwide is introducing students and faculty to our development technologies and platforms. There are millions of academic developers worldwide, from high schools and universities to technical colleges. We want these developers to have access to our tools, both in courses and in dorm rooms, and we want them to experience and love the .NET platform. The academic business manager will work as a virtual team member with our worldwide academic developer initiative in creating and executing programs, measuring our successes and failures, and driving research to learn about the market.

Responsibilities

• Own the business management for academic customer segment, including research, marketing, budgeting, and metrics.

• Create, execute, and manage marketing programs for various academic segments, especially the MSDN Academic Alliance and high school developer programs.

• Maintain and manage academic product SKUs with operations and licensing.

Qualifications:

• The right candidate must be highly motivated, self-sufficient, and be able to operate effectively without close supervision. He or she must also possess a balance of creativity, project management and analytical skills to (a) think strategically about the academic business for a long term impact (b) manage programs in the short term and (c) work with multiple stakeholder teams in marketing, other product groups, EdSG, Microsoft Research, and our worldwide field.MBA desired.

• 2-3 years experience in product planning, marketing, business analysis or consulting preferred.

As a Product Marketing Manager in the Visual Studio .NET partner marketing team, you will be responsible for driving the success of the Visual Studio ISV program by developing and delivering co-marketing offerings and programs to drive developer awareness of strategic ISVs offerings and support their success, satisfaction, and loyalty. Specific responsibilities include defining the worldwide Visual Studio partner marketing plan, managing the execution of the plan, developing processes to assist the field in identifying and leveraging ISVs in strategic selling opportunities. This position is part of a vibrant team and will require working with individuals in multiple groups within Microsoft so success relies heavily on strong teamwork and cross-group collaboration skills. Key performance metrics for this position include: (a) ISV satisfaction with Microsoft, (b) the number of offerings created to enable ISVs to build demand for their applications, (c) the number of ISVs participating in the offerings and (d) the number of end-customers reached through Microsoft+ISV marketing activities.
