Strengthening cybersecurity for the DoD – reducing risk

Azure Gov Team

Defense department senior leaders have directed DoD to adopt cloud computing to support the warfighter, a direction that will help build a stronger foundation of cybersecurity. The partnership with a dedicated, certified cloud provider can be pivotal. But given the breadth of these solutions, where should the DoD turn?

In the new defense context of cyber warfare, it’s critical to have a cloud that ensures robust security and peace of mind. A cloud that can be wherever adversaries are—domestic or aboard. The Microsoft approach to cybersecurity has helped agencies like the DoD to advance missions with a trusted, intelligent cloud, while keeping critical data secure.

Microsoft strives to deliver four key security needs:

  • Identity and access management. Ensure accounts are authenticated prior to granting access to mission-critical data.
  • Threat protection. Protect the network by detecting suspicious behavior and malicious activities, then responding to breaches quickly.
  • Information protection. Easily implement flexible data classification methods based on cybersecurity needs.
  • Security management. Get the full picture of the agency’s security posture with built-in intelligence and recommendations.

Learn more about how Microsoft is committed to building and implementing best-in-class security programs and processes while constantly working to reduce exposure to cybersecurity risks.
