Power BI Premium generally available for U.S. government users

With more than 20 compliance offerings, Power BI delivers an end-to-end business intelligence solution while helping organizations comply with national, regional and industry-specific requirements.

Today, we are pleased to build on this legacy by announcing Power BI Premium will be generally available for both the U.S. Government Community Cloud (GCC) and U.S. Department of Defense (DOD) users beginning Oct. 1.

Power BI Premium was made available in June and builds on the existing Power BI portfolio with a capacity-based licensing model that increases flexibility for how users access, share and distribute content. The new offering also delivers additional scalability and performance to the Power BI service. With today’s announcement Power BI Premium joins the availability of Power BI Pro for Microsoft Cloud for the U.S. Government announced earlier this year.

At Microsoft, we believe that not all clouds are created equal. The U.S. GCC complies with federal requirements for cloud services, including FedRAMP, as well as with requirements for criminal justice and federal tax information systems. The U.S. Government DOD service makes Security Requirements Guidelines (SRG) L5 and L4 controls available to U.S. Government defense departments and defense industry organizations holding Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI) or subject to International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR).

These announcements reinforce Microsoft’s long and full commitment to support the needs of U.S. government agencies, meet their unique and evolving requirements, and provide solutions that help governments work better for everyone.

Power BI is a leading business analytics solution that was first made generally available in July 2015. Since then, Microsoft’s driving vision for Power BI has been to enable users across roles, disciplines and industries to get value by drawing insights from their data within minutes.
