Microsoft is committed to the cloud and invests heavily in making the cloud as secure as possible.  In the range of a billion dollars, Microsoft's investment in cloud security is considerable, and as Gartner estimates the cloud is worth around $250 billion dollars, the investment does make sense.  And, with such growth in a technology, cyber attacks against the cloud is prevalent.  Microsoft estimates around 1.5 million attacks a day trying to find and exploit weaknesses.

In Introducing Azure confidential computing, Mark Russinovich announces that Azure is the first cloud to offer a set of data security features and services named azure confidential computing.  These features provide a high level of assurance that customer data remains under customer control while being processed in the cloud.  This is achieved by protecting the data in enclaves (re, Trusted Execution Environment) and ensures that unauthorized code and operations do not have access to the data.
