Very useful page. But could need an update.
Hi Andy. We have updated the page. Please let us know if you need more details.
The link for AX2009 for Retail SP1 roll up 8 is missing in the list here. Please update.
mbs2.microsoft.com/…/KBDisplay.aspx
Very useful page! I printed it as I found this information really precious! Thanks!
Thanks for the post! 🙂
Great job! Please keep it updated as this is the easiest reference of build numbers over there 🙂
Is it possible to download latest kernel build for AX2012 R2 ? I can't find kernel 6.2.1000.1132 (KB2848005) …
Hi Ireneusz, Latest kernel hotfixes are not available on Partner/Customer-Sources. It takes a bit of time to write an article and publish. If you would like to receive the hotfix please contact Microsoft Dynamics AX Support Services at mbs.microsoft.com/…/newstart.aspx (you must be a Partner or a Premier customer, otherwise please contact your MS Dynamics Partner).
Hi Shiva, we added the link for Retail and other industry solutions for AX 2009 SP1 RU8
It is very useful page. In fact it is only one page presents full information in one place. Please consider to add also link to Dynamics Localization Portal (mbs.microsoft.com/…/GFMLocalizationPortalMC.htm). A hotfixes regarding to local country specifics are published only on localization portal.
Hi Robert, we've passed that feedback along to the team that owns the Localization Portal.
Localization Portal added
It could be very nice with a reference to the latest kernel build which is available for download.
The link on the KB article KB2854933 says: "This fix is not publicly available through the Microsoft website as it has not gone through full Microsoft regression testing. If you would like to receive the hotfix please contact Microsoft Dynamics AX Support Services."
Hi Bjørn, I added the row 'Recent published kernel build' with the link to the KB Article. Does it help?
Can you check that the reference to KB 2854505 (for AX 2012 recently published kernel 6.0.1108.5104) is valid? The KB article refers to a hot fix for AX 2012 R2.
Hi Guy, we recently started releasing hotfixes that are applicable for both AX 2012 and AX 2012 R2. KB 2854505 is an example. Even though the KB Article does not say this, when you request the hotfix you can choose the platform – AX 2012 (Build 6.0.1108.5104) or AX 2012 R2 (Build 6.2.1000.1320).
Hi,
Do you know when would CU6 for AX 2012 FP be available?
Thanks,
Agustín
Hi Agustin, we are planning for a rollup next year – but no official dates yet.
Did anyone setup DAX 2009 Recent kernel build 5.0.1600.2031? Does it work correctly?
Really good,
Can anyone confirm that the newest R2 binaries (6.2.1000.2916) AOS+Ax32 are working WITH A CLIENT that is NOT using language en-us?
it seems that no other language beside en-us can be used "error revision in ktd" file (871 required)
during the update only the axsysen-us.ktd seems to be updated (the only one with that revision)
Hi Douglas,
Thanks for your comment. We've fixed the issue in KB2890753.
Please use Kernel Build 6.2.1000.3198 or higher.
Thanks,
Roman
Congratulations for providing this knowledge. Thank you!
When can we expect CU6 for AX2012R1?
Microsoft made an effort to sync the CU numbers between R1 and R2 but it looks like R1 is running into a complete CU shutdown.
many early adaptor customer s, running R1, feels like they are legt alone in the cold. Anyone any idea of there Will be a CU for the R1 release?
Hi Mark,
From what I know, next CU for AX2012 is in plan for the next calendar year. I believe the main focus for the development team is to enable new implementations by giving the latest update on AX2012R2.
For the currently running implementations you can
• check this page blogs.msdn.com/…/afterru8.aspx
• Utilize Issue search at Microsoft Dynamics Lifecycle Services to find fixes in the area you're interested in
• Contact support teams to get additional assistance mbs.microsoft.com/…/newstart.aspx
The current blog doesn't mention the kernel update released in security hotfix MS14-004 which IIRC is newer than the listed version for AX 4.0-2012 (e.g. .2390 for 2009).
Recent published kernel build 6.2.1000.6089 22 Jan 2013 KB2921476
Is the date of release correct or should it be 2014?
Hi Yair K., this security update is included in the published Kernel builds for 2012 and 2012 R2, but it is still pending for AX 2009. Once the article for AX 2009 is published the blog will be updated.
Thanks Girish for the correction.
The security update is not available at partnersource – but it is available publicly:
technet.microsoft.com/…/ms14-004
(Note that 4.0 and 2009 are mentioned).
Also, public download links:
http://www.microsoft.com/…/details.aspx
http://www.microsoft.com/…/details.aspx
I hope it wasn't released too early…
Thanks for the input
Hi Yair K, thanks for sharing the links. What I mean is that these updates are already included in the published builds for AX 2012. For example, for AX 2012 R2 the security update has build number 6.2.1000.5419, and instead of that one you can download KB2921476 which will give you build 6.2.1000.6089.
But the links for AX4 and AX5 are definitely useful!
6.2.1000.6503 – fix.lcs.dynamics.com/…/2935737
Would love to see an update!
Will there be a CU7 for AX 2012 RTM + FP?
if yes, when?
Cheers,
Lau
Hi Lau, we are planning for a cumulative update this year – but no official dates yet.
Hi,
I am unable to download latest build version of DAX 2012 R2
Recent published kernel build 6.2.1000.7049 25 Mar 2014 KB2954301
Given link is not working fine, its showing some error message.
I have partner access. Can you please check once at your end and accordingly update the download link.
Thanks-
Deepak
Hi Deepak,
Thanks for the heads up. The forward links seems to be broken or temporary not working. As a temporary solution you can log in to http://lcs.dynamics.com open a project, go to Issue Search and search for the KB you're interested in. Hope this helps.
Roman
There is a new Kernel Hotfix for R2 6.2.1000.7387 (KB2961502) handling some client crashes
Thanks Douglas. Updated.
This is a very helpful post, thank you. I would like to know how do I find the build number of the hotfix before apply it, I mean, is there a property on hotfix that I will install that determines its build number? How do I view it? Thank you.
Hi Edvandro,
To find the build number of the hotfix before you download it from http://support.microsoft.com click on 'Show hotfixes for all platforms and languages (1)' and then 'Show additional information ►' on the right. It will display additional information including the Build number and the File size.
Does it help?
Hi. Could you pls add KB link for latest Retail POS build version for DAX R2?
Hi Denis,
To get a latest Retail POS build for AX 2012, simply download a latest kernel. It will contain all components including Retail POS. Does it help?
The link seems to be broken for recent kernel build 6.2.1000.7999, KB2971793. I can't find KB2971793 in LCS. Can you provide any information?
Thanks,
Dave
Thanks Dave. Updated.
Roman,
Yes, it helped for current version. But as I seen before, not every build update includes POS part. That's why I asked. Though current version (7999) includes it, previous mentioned here didn't (KB2926525 if I remember right).
Thanks.
Hi Denis,
KB2926525 is a latest application update for SEPA that is published on another blog post 'Important application hotfixes'. The application hotfixes normally do not include Retail POS unless it's a hybrid fix. The latest AX2012 kernel updates – that are published here – include Retail POS. Please let me know if any of them does not.
The link for the Recent kernel build 6.3.164.1785 11 Jul 2014 KB2983634 takes you to this page

This is an R2 hotfix not an R3 as stated
Thanks John, it looks like a mistake on the web site, but the fix is for R3. It will show the build number 6.3.164.1785 when you click download > Show hotfixes for all platforms and languages (1) > Show additional information.
Hi Roman,
Can you check that recent R3 kernel (6.3.164.2491, 08 Aug 2014, KB2970170)?
When I click 'Show hotfixes for all platforms and languages (1)', KB2970170 only offers me a hotfix for Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012 R2.
Thanks Guy. The hotfix has not been uploaded to the server yet. I've updated the page.

I would really like if it was possible to get a complete overview of the kernel hotfixes that a specific build contained all the way from last CU package and to the latest build….is practical impossible to get the overview now
Hi,
Thank you for the feedback. Regarding overview of kernel fixes included in a build – they're cumulative and include all previously released kernel/hybrid fixes. If we implement a feature on LCS 'Issue Search' to allow to search for all kernel updates – would it work for you?
Hello experts, are there any experiences with an only-kernel-update (means without application). In order to get more stable aos-services and less crashes of clientsessions we´re are looking forward to upgrade our ax2009 ru3 (5.0.1500.1670) to RU8 (5.0.1500.6491) or higher (e.g. 5.0.1600.2967). Any recommendations?
Hi Ilja Tiemann
Updating kernel is what we usually recommend. Kernel updates can be installed separately from the application hotfixes/rollups. However, it's recommended to update both client and server components when installing a higher kernel build.
I'm currently testing the latest kernel update (5.0.1600.2967) for Ax 2009 SP1 in a standard environment (no customization). I have an issue with the dialog from RunbaseBatch class. The 2 buttons to the right ("Reccurence" and "Alerts") are only partially visible (looks like they are overshadowed by the left field group). I test it with InventCostClosing class but any other class extending RunBaseBatch has this issue.
The issue only seem to occur with the new client (5.0.1600.2967). If I use an older client (5.0.1500.6491) to connect to the same AOS the buttons are appearing properly. Anyone have solution for this? Is there newer hotfix that corrects this?
Nice one! With links to LCS. I like.

Hello
After upgrade to latest kernel build on our DAX 2012 R2(prev CU7), we experience that AX client crashes on startup. Workaround is to delete kti files in AppDataLocal. This only happens on our setup that uses roaming profiles. Not with local profiles on terminal server
Kind reagards
Allan
how can we get build 5.0.1600.3084 for DAX 2009?
Hi Alex, to get a latest kernel update for AX2009 please contact your MS Dynamics Partner. If you're a partner please raise a new support request with Microsoft Support following the link mbs2.microsoft.com/…/newstart.aspx
Thank you very much for the above useful information.
After applying CU8 and performing all the steps detailed under "Cumulative Update 8 Installation Guide", the application version is still showing "6.3.164.0" (R3 RTM). The kernel version has been updated to "6.3.1000.309" (CU8), along with AOS and clients. We can also see lot of models installed based on the above FAQ. Since our client doesn't deal with Retail and Public sector features, we have disabled this, along with enabling only some country specific features. We have enabled and selected these on both licence configuration and while building the CU8 package from LCS. Is this behaviour normal?
Also do we need to install the full package even if we have disabled few modules and country specific features under Licence configuration?

AX 2012 R2 – which KB is most recent?
When downloading both KB3012210 (described as latest for R3 from 06 Jan 2015) and KB3015739 (latest for R2 from 04 Jan 2015), I'm presented with updates for both R2 and R3. From the release dates, it seems like KB3012210 is the latest update for both R2 and R3, but it can only be verified by downloading the files and comparing the build dates… Please clarify which is the latest KB for binary update for R2. It's always wise to make sure you are deploying the latest available update when updating production solutions to avoid
Hi AX Tech,
The information about the latest builds is correct on the blog. That's also correct that the both fixes are available for both versions – R2 and R3. Before downloading a hotfix you can double check its build number and the release date on the 'Hotfix Request' web page by clicking on 'Show hotfixes for all platforms and languages' and 'Show additional information'.
Hi Roman,
URL under KB3000700 leads to new support ticket opening page on partnersource. So, is it mandatory to open new suppert case to get this update? Maybe there is a way to get it by ourselves? I have access to partnersource and LSS, but cannot find this update there. Maybe it's possible to post a direct link here?
Thanks.
Can you please update the 2012R2 CU8 section. It's is available for some days.
Denis, there's a delay in publishing the KB Articles. Until the article is written and published you can only get the fix via the support teams. The good news is that we have released a new kernel hotfix for which the KB article is already published, so you can download the latest one strait from the portal – KB2979084.
Douglas, the link is updated. Thanks for the heads-up.
Correction – KB2979084 is a Retail update only. The latest kernel update today is KB3000700, available by request only. The latest published KB is 2934938 available on Partner/Customer-Source.
AX 2012 R3 RTM kernel – What is the last public build which does not require VS2013?
(The build at this page is R3 CU8, which upgraded to Visual Studio 2013 which we can't install at this time at the required location).
Hi
>>Recent kernel build 6.3.1000.2992 03 Jun 2015 KB3069756
Really build version this KB – 6.3.2000.2992
Roman,
For AX 2012 R3 the last build versión for KB3069756 is v6.3.2000.2992 not v6.3.1000.2992.
Regards,
Yair K > the latest before the Visual Studio 2013 is KB 3010993
AndyD, Albert > thanks for the heads up. Updated!
I downloaded KB3069799 and attempted to update our current AX2012R2 kernel which is 6.2.1000.7878. When I run AxUpdate, my only option is Database, nothing for AOS or components. Is this the right link? Am I able to go straight from the 6.2.1000 kernel to the 6.2.2000 kernel? Thanks, Dave
Can we upgrade directly from AX 2012 R3 RTM to AX 2012 R3 cu9?
Dave, I've updated the link, but I think the package of KB3069799 contained the updates for all the components. I would suggest to open a support ticket with us if the problem persist.
Santosh, yes you can upgrade from R3 RTM to R3 CU9.
Roman,
Could you please update the link ? I think the latest one is KB3081769

The years for the latest fixes on AX2009 are surely incorrect. I suspect they should be 2015.
skaue > there were no kernel fixes since summer 2014. AX2009 seems to have a stable kernel now )
Download link to KB3150221 for ax2012r3 Recent kernel build is incorrect.
It downloads KB3147560
How can I know which KB is needed for a known kernel version? I need the fix for the kernel no. 6.0.1108.5628. Any idea?
blogs.technet.com/…/announcing-cumulative-update-10-for-microsoft-dynamics-ax-2012-r3.aspx
CU10: 6.3.3000.110 or 6.3.3000.111
Correct build number of KB3120009 is 6.3.3000.423.
Thank you for the feedback, the blog has been updated
NB! The link to KB3115519 listed as the latest (current) Binary Build for AX 2012 R3, points to the corresponding hotfix for AX 2012 R2!! The R3 hotfix for KB3115519 is listed in LCS, but no Download is (yet) available.
Current correct status:
*KB3115519 is available for AX 2012 R2
*KB3115519 is NOT available for AX 2012 R3
Now er also need the New Dynamics AX build numbers:-)
Hi.
Do you plan to add any information on ax7 builds ?
Please help when I try to Hotfix Lists New and Old for AX 2009 I get a message that the file has moved or been renamed. Where can I get these lists?
Neil, this file is no longer updated. Please contact MS Support for further information.
KB3138383 is NOT for Dynamics AX2009, but 2012R3, please correct.
I don’t see a mistake here Michiel. The link leads to the AX2009 page and downloads a AX2009 fix.
Helo, very useful page. How can I know the KB number that has certain kernel number? As an example this kernel version: 6.3.1000.1552, I know that this is R3 CU8 but I want to know what KB number changed its kernel version. Thanks.
Edvandro, 6.3.1000.1552 corresponds to KB3037673. Why would you need to know the KB number?
Good post. Are you going to include AX 7?

Hi
May I know the day to release R3-CU11? we are starting to setup & develop new customer very soon. And we would like to know the specific date to release R3-CU11.
Hung
Hi Hung, I’m afraid we can’t tell the exact date as it will depend on the results from the test cycle
Hi Roman,
Thank you
Hung
Is the first entry “Microsoft Dynamics AX” missing the version number? Or did Microsoft stop the version numbering with AX 7?
It’s not a typo. The newest version (previously sometimes referred to as “7” or “AX7”) is indeed called “Microsoft Dynamics AX”. /Claes
Hi.
I’m trying to copy the Recent kernel build for AX2012 R3: 6.3.4000.858 – 14 Jul 2016 KB3178874.
Looks like the link is broken. The response from LCS page:
Issue search encountered an error
No hotfix found for the ID specified
Thanks.
How come it is different with the following link
https://blogs.msdn.microsoft.com/axsupport/builds/
which one is correct?
Thanks for the heads-up. It was a test. I was looking for ways to create a permanent page with the same content.
Please update to include AXCU1 7.0.1265.23020
(as the platform/application pace with ‘Dynamics 365 for Operations’ speeds up, I don’t envy whoever’s charged with maintaining this list – but it’s really useful!)
Engee, Application Update 1 may appear as 7.0.1265.23020 if you install Platform Update 2.
Thanks very much it is very helpful
Hi Roman,
For Dynamics AX 2012 R3, is “Recent kernel build 6.3.4000.3586 27 Oct 2016 KB3201899” include all CU8, 9, 10, 11 ?
No need to install one by one?
Thanks

Hi Tim,
yes, Kernel fixes are always cumulative in AX2012, so you can just install one – latest. read more – https://blogs.msdn.microsoft.com/axsupport/2014/12/10/faq-microsoft-dynamics-ax-kernel-hotfixes/
Is the Availability date listed for the AX 2012 R2 Recent kernel build (6.2.3000.3401) correct? It shows “10 Jan 2016”. I downloaded version: 6.2.3000.1861 around 06 Jun 16, so I’m thinking the date listed on this page is a typo and should be “10 Jan 2017”.
Hi Ken
Did you find out anything? I wonder about the same thing as I suddenly got I bit confused, as we are rolling up several environments for the past weeks.
I think I also actually told the customer back in january that the recent_build seemed to be dated back to Jan_2016, which I thought was kinda old. I did not think to much about is since I basically work with R3 environments.
Then I also found the build_number from June_2016, and it did not make it any easier to figure out.
Best regards from Lars Brevik
It was a typo of course. The fix was released in Jan 2017. I updated the post.
Thanks!
The Dynamics AX 2012 R2 kernel updates now show “Monthly” without a kernel build number. Is this new? I recently downloaded and installed KB3199243 and installed it, but then noticed within AX–Help >> About Dynamics AX, the Kernel version did not change after installation and still shows version 6.2.3000.4319 when it normally has changed in the past.
We have the similar issue! Our current version is 6.2.3000.3401 but when we installed the latest version downloaded from here, we just make downgrading to lower version 6.2.3000.2982?
Thanks Ivaylo. I’ve updated the blog with the latest builds again as before. Let me know if any feedback.
Thank you Rich for the heads-up. We’ve raised this with the LCS team.
AX 2012 Rx download link points to Latest kernel versions in LCS and More info on Latest kernel versions in LCS, points back to this site (“ping – pong”). We really need information about latest Build number and date to be able to quicly identify if a newer build is available (this was better before on this site). Now we have to download the Latest and compare it manually.
Another thing – when is the Monthly update released? Late each month? Early each month?

Thanks for the feedback. I was hoping I can stop updating this page after leaving the support team. But it seems like no )
The page was updated with the latest builds.
