Announcing our expanded Australian Surface channel

Today I am excited to announce another significant expansion to our channel strategy to meet the overwhelming demand for Surface devices in Australia, giving more partners the opportunity to sell Surface.

The global expansion was first announced at WPC last year and we’ve been working hard to develop the expansion model here in Australia and are delighted to share it with you today.

We are opening up our channel to give the opportunity to more of our partner network to sell Surface. When looking at new partners to bring into the program there are a range of critical capabilities we consider, all focused on ensuring we delight our joint customers.  Great Surface partners are those who couple a robust existing devices business with experience in mobility solutions and managed services. Many of these partners are also transitioning their businesses to the cloud.

Today more than 150 authorised device resellers have expressed interest and we expect this number to grow in the coming months. We are already seeing positive feedback from some of our newest authorised device resellers.

For example, Astron Technology, is looking forward to providing its customers with greater access to data. Tom Langley, Director, Alliances and Development, Astron Technology said, “Our Enterprise customers are demanding more effective access to their data and applications, whenever and where ever they are. They love the portability that tablet devices have given but still need the power of a laptop.

“Microsoft Surface has set the standard for merging these two seemingly conflicting sets of requirements with a single device that has redefined mobility for knowledge professionals. Astron Technology is very excited about now being able to offer Microsoft Surface devices to its customers.”

Other partners are excited about being able to work with customers in specific industries such as education. Cedric Celestine, General Manager, Winthrop Australia said, “Inclusion in the program will expand our reach into our existing customer base.

It will allow Winthrop Australia to provide a complete end-to-end solution to our clients and help expand Microsoft’s devices into the Australian Education market. We are excited to be a part of this program, and look forward to the additional opportunities Microsoft’s range of devices will bring to Winthrop Australia.”

The expansion demonstrates that we have the ability to scale and we’re able to deliver the best program and experience for our partners and customers. Now with the breadth of coverage across our channel, we’re in a position to deliver on customer demand in ways that we have never had the ability to do before.
