In August of 2014 we introduced Azure into the Open Licensing Program. With Azure, partners are able to help customers embrace the speed, scale and economics of cloud through an open and flexible platform that provides all the building blocks to quickly build, deploy, and manage cloud-based solutions.
Prior to the launch of Azure in the Open Licensing program there were two ways in which customers could buy Azure, either directly on azure.microsoft.com or using their Enterprise Agreement (EA) contracts. Azure in the Open licensing program enables you, our partners to deepen customer relationships and grow your revenues.
We are constantly innovating on the Azure Platform and offering a range of services that can be used by IT PROs as well as developers to deliver solutions for end customers. As part of the Azure in Open launch we highlight 4 keys scenarios that help our infrastructure partners deliver IT solutions to customers business problems. These solutions, Azure Backup, a new disaster recovery solution called Azure Site Recovery, Azure Virtual Machines as well as Azure Websites, help our partners offer cloud services to their customers who are still running on premise hardware, with Backup and Disaster recovery solutions being delivered from the cloud, and for customers who no longer wish to run server hardware, the ability to host their workloads in the cloud.
Staring March 1st we are offering the Enterprise Mobility Suite (EMS), in the Open Licensing program, that in conjunction with Office 365 truly enables our customers to conduct their business anywhere and at the same time help our partners to deepen their engagement with end customers by offering Identity Management in the Cloud, Mobile Device Management and Information Protection.
Azure & EMS unlocks a range of economic benefits for our partners by not only offering them a margin opportunity that’s associated with the sales of IT products, but also enabling you to deliver higher value project based services as well as the opportunity to create a deeper and ongoing customer relationship with managed services. With Azure datacenters being the locations from where these services are delivered, you no longer have to carry the capital expenses associated with setting up your customers IT systems and at the same time significantly reduce the associated operating expenses, leaving more room for higher value project and managed services within the customers IT budgets.
