REGISTER ALL OPEN LICENSE DEALS IN MSPOWERUP
The Microsoft Powerup portal (www.mspowerup.com) should be a standard part of your sales cycle for Open License deals.  Enter your opportunities here early in the sales cycle to ensure eligibility for Cash Back, Get Modern bundles and Get Modern discounts of up to 5%.  Sharing the information and having it approved with us early ensures you're able to present a competitive proposal to your customer.  It also enables Microsoft Partner Account Managers, Distribution Account Manager and even myself to review opportunities and lend assistance.  If you leave it until placing the order to share the customer details (all Open License orders must be placed with end user details) then you might be disappointed to find out they're not an eligible Microsoft SMB customer!

CASHBACK EXAMPLE:  You've got a current customer with 20 PCs, between 1 and 3 years old, running Windows XP (downgraded from Windows 7 Pro OEM licenses) and a mix of Office 2003 and Office 2007.  Utilising Open Value Subscription, you could upgrade all 20 PCs to Windows 8 Pro (or Win8 Enterprise if you choose, as it's a Software Assurance benefit) and Office Pro Plus for around $7000 ERP 1st year upfront cost.  In this, you could receive a 2.5% discount (additional margin or pass on to customer for competitive deal) plus $2000 cashback!  A deal which might usually yield a single digit margin on software becomes a deal with around 30% margin on software.

CASHBACK IDEAS:
- Use cash back to subsidise service fees to your customers to help win more deals.
- Split cash back with your sales people as a great short term incentive.  e.g. They sell 20 Office Pro licenses, they get $750 bonus (total cashback $1500)
- Depending on the amount of cashback you accrue, use all or part of it to fund an event or marketing campaign you otherwise may not have run, to generate even more sales.
