Go Digital is a global Microsoft initiative designed to reduce environmental impact, allow customers to access their software updates faster
and reduce the time and effort spent managing physical software media.

Recently Microsoft completed an Open License software media re-engineering project where Microsoft has developed an on-line software
media purchasing option for Open License customers in addition to the software download option via the online portal eOpen.
With both options, the customer must be licensed for the software media they are ordering or downloading. Microsoft will also roll out this
online software media purchasing option for Open Value program in November 2009.

The overall benefits include;

  • Helping the Partner time and money currently spent on low value software media fulfillment.
  • Helping to reduce lead-times to deploy products for end customers (product download option).
  • Standardized process of Open License program management and software media purchases.
  • Single portal location for Open License program management, Volume Licensing Key (VLK) retrieval and now software media (bits) download
    and/or purchase.
  • Reduces waste.
