MceBackup version 2.0 beta version available for download

Ian Dixon has created a new 2.0 version of his MceBackup tool that supports Windows Media Center in Windows Vista as well as Windows XP Media Center Edition.  The new version of the tool requires the .NET Framework 2.0 (which is a part of the OS on Windows Vista but may need to be installed if you are running on any other OS).

MceBackup 2.0 includes the following features:

  • Can be used to transfer settings from one Windows Media Center PC to another
  • Includes command line and 2 foot GUI versions (a 10 foot GUI version that integrates into Windows Media Center is coming soon)
  • Backs up TV channel assignment
  • Backs up scheduled recordings and series recordings
  • Backs up recorded TV shows to local drives or UNC paths
  • Backs up one additional folder of the user's choosing
  • Has a scheduling engine to allow automating backups
  • Displays the status of critical Windows Media Center services

Ian has posted information about the MceBackup tool on the new Media Center Show Community site (which I also encourage you to check out when you get a chance).  Here are the direct links:
