New Windows Media Center development blog by Niall Ginsbourg
Niall Ginsbourg, the developer behind several Windows Media Center applications, including Big Screen Headlines, Big Screen Contacts, and several others, has started a blog about Windows Media Center development. The blog is called Big Screen Blog and you can find it at this location - https://mobilewares.spaces.live.com/.
Niall has already written some really interesting posts about Media Center Markup Language (MCML) development for Windows Media Center in Windows Vista:
- https://mobilewares.spaces.live.com/blog/cns!78533A1A2E078194!118.entry - this post describes how to create a reusable UI control in MCML. In this post, Niall describes the markup that goes into the GelButton control that he used in his Big Screen Contacts application, and he includes downloadable source markup and assets for this control
- https://mobilewares.spaces.live.com/blog/cns!78533A1A2E078194!134.entry - this post describes how to create background animations using MCML, and also includes downloadable source markup and assets
- https://mobilewares.spaces.live.com/blog/cns!78533A1A2E078194!119.entry - this post provides a sneak preview of a casual gaming application that Niall is currently working on (called Big Screen Games)
I've also added a link to the Big Screen Blog to my list of Windows Media Center blogs on the lower left side of my main blog page. I encourage you to check out this blog and keep an eye on it for future posts about Windows Media Center development as well.
