IE10 Removing IEMaintenance from Window 7 and Windows 2008 R2

Hi, we just want to share some information regarding some changes introduced with IE10 that may impact the way you manage your Internet Explore Policies.

As the TechNet article "Replacements for Internet Explorer Maintenance" states that:

"By default In Windows® 8, the IEM settings have been deprecated in favor of Group Policy Preferences, Administrative Templates (.admx), and the Internet Explorer Administration Kit 10 (IEAK 10)."

The above statement is also correct for those systems (Windows 7, Windows 2008 R2) where you install Internet Explorer 10 (IE10). Therefore settings which had been defined via IEM will not be processed on machines where Internet Explorer 10 has been installed.

It is also true that the IE Maintenance GPO will be removed from the Group Policy Console. 

From the screenshot below, noticed the Internet Explorer Maintenance is missing:
