Assembly “msshrtmi” is installed on the GAC of hosting machine for Windows Azure Web Sites. If your web site references another version of “msshrtmi”, then you will hit this issue.

Solution

The solution is copy the required assembly required to the web site’s bin folder.

For version 1.6 SDK, you can get it from here.

http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=28045

You need to install Windows Azure SDK 1.6 on your local system, and you can find this msshrtmi.dll under C:\Program Files\Windows Azure SDK\v1.6\bin\runtimes\base\x86.

For deployed web site, please using FTP to copy the msshrtmi.dll to you bin folder of you Azure Web Site.

Or you can reference this assembly in your project, and set the “Copy Local” to true. Then redeploy the project from Visual Studio.
