One of the highlights of the MGB was the closing keynote by Pat Helland. Titled “Building Metropolis”, it discusses the past and future evolution of the IT landscape and draws parallels between today's IT innovations and the industrial advances of the 19th and 20th centuries. Fascinating stuff. 

I just looked it up for someone and discovered that it is publicly available. So there is no reason that you all shouldn't enjoy it as well:  https://msdn.microsoft.com/architecture/overview/series
