The New Year

I spent new year's eve and christmas with family and friends this year on the east coast. I had the opportunity to meet some great new people and really relax. The weather here was also very moderate - 50 degrees during the day. I also enjoyed my new christmas gifts - a Zune and a new digital camera. I've already loaded my Zune with U2's music, pictures and videos!

Now that the new year is here, I'm taking about a month off to visit Asia. This is a long awaited holiday - things have been very busy at work this past year with 2007 Office system launch. I'll be spending the majority of my time in India visiting family, friends and attending 3 weddings. If you haven't been to an Indian wedding, it's a very interesting experience! 2 weddings are that of very close friends (one in Pune and one in Hyderabad) and the other one is a cousin's wedding in Bombay. I have to take part in their Sangeet, possibly give a couple speeches and exercise my Hindi. 🙂 I'm excited!

I start work again February 11th at the SharePoint European Conference in Berlin, Germany, where I'll be giving 1 or 2 talks. Lawrence Liu and Mike Fitzmaurice will also be there from my team. So if you're going to be at the SharePoint European Conference, drop me a note!

On the more intellectual side this holiday season, I also had some very interesting conversations with a few IIT (Indian Institute of Technology) alums at a dinner party. We discussed some very interesting puzzles/riddles/brainteasers that I'll share in the next couple days.

  1. Hope you have a great vacation in India, you certainly deserve the break!

So how do you like your Zune so far? My son has had his for almost a month and seems to like it (just posted a video interview with him on my blog at )

Take it easy Arpan and safe travels

The Zune is really nice… the screen is bigger than the iPod – so it’s better for watching videos! Some reports mention it’s the same resolution, just bigger screen… but at that size, it still makes a big difference.

    Happy New Year Arpan!

Wow! You sure must be excited to go back to India. Bombay rocks and so does Pune! You are going to have a gala, I bet!

You surely deserve the break! Have fun and take it easy!

    Have a safe travel!
