European Championship soccer 2008 streamed live with Silverlight

All 31 matches of the European Championship soccer 2008 are streamed live with Silverlight in the Netherlands. Our partner, Cross Media Ventures, created a way that was applicable as DRM solution for the UEFA. The initial idea was to stream only 8 matches during a specific period in the tournament where some matches are played at the same time. But after the demo of the player, the Dutch Broadcasting Company (NOS) decided to go for Silverlight all the way.

A peak of visitors is expected on June 17th when the Netherlands is playing against Rumania and France is playing Italy at the same time (they are all in the same pool). Let’s see if he Dutch network can hold that.

Btw, the DRM solution prevents users outside the Netherlands to view the matches. Sorry about that.
