Experiencing Data Access Issue in Azure Portal for Many Data Types – 05/04 – Resolved

We’ve confirmed that all systems are back to normal with no customer impact as of 05/04, 19:40 UTC. Our logs show the incident started on 05/04, 18:45 UTC and that during the 55 minutes that it took to resolve the issue some of customers experienced errors loading Application Insights data in Azure and App Analytics portals.
  • Root Cause: Full RCA is still in progress, but preliminary RCA is pointing to node issues in backend service, which is responsible for data retrieval.
  • Lessons Learned: Pending full RCA.
  • Incident Timeline: 55 minutes – 05/04, 18:45 UTC through 05/04, 19:40 UTC.

We understand that customers rely on Application Insights as a critical service and apologize for any impact this incident caused.

We are aware of issues within Application Insights and are actively investigating. Some customers may experience Data Access Issue in Azure Portal. The following data types are affected: Availability,Customer Event,Dependency,Exception,Metric,Page Load,Page View,Performance Counter,Request,Trace.
