Experiencing Data Access Issue in Azure Portal for Many Data Types – 04/14 – Resolved

We've confirmed that all systems are back to normal with no customer impact as of 04/14, 02:41 UTC. Our logs show the incident started on 04/14, 02:20 UTC and that during the 21 minutes that it took to resolve the issue up to 7% of customers may have experienced failed queries in the Analytics portal and the Application Insights blades in the Microsoft Azure Portal.

  • Root Cause: The failure was due to a momentary problem connecting to a back-end storage system.
  • Lessons Learned: We are investigating options for increased resiliency to prevent a reoccurrence in the future.
