Experiencing Data Access Issue in Azure Portal for Many Data Types – 04/13 – Resolved

We've confirmed that all systems are back to normal with no customer impact as of 4/13, 06:05 UTC. Our logs show the incident started on 4/13, 04:30 UTC and that during the 1 hour 35 minutes that it took to resolve the issue substantial percentage of customers experienced issues for data access from application analytics endpoint. Also external customers would have experienced issues with metric based alerting capability.
  • Root Cause: The failure was due to performance degradation in one of the backend service under application insights infrastructure.
  • Lessons Learned: We have collected all the required telemetry and current in process of analysis in order to avoid such failures in future.

We are aware of issues within Application Insights and are actively investigating. Some customers may experience Data Access Issue with Application Insights API  in Azure Portal. The following data types are affected: Availability,Customer Event,Dependency,Exception,Metric,Page Load,Page View,Performance Counter,Request,Trace.
