Experiencing Data Gaps for Metric Data Type – 02/01 – Resolved

We've confirmed that all systems are back to normal with no customer impact as of 02/01, 22:00 UTC. Our logs show the incident started on 02/01, 13:00 UTC and that during the 9 hours that it took to resolve the issue 1.5% of customers experienced data loss for metrics data type.
  • Root Cause: The failure was due to data drops by agent components which ingest into out backend data.

We understand that customers rely on Application Insights as a critical service and apologize for any impact this incident caused.

We continue to investigate issues within Application Insights. Root cause is not fully understood at this time.  A small subset of customers continue to see data loss for metric data type. We are working to establish the start time for the issue, initial findings indicate that the problem began at <02/01 ~12:00 UTC>. We currently have no estimate for resolution.
