Experiencing Data Access Issue in Azure Portal for Many Data Types – 11/18 – Resolved

We've confirmed that all systems are back to normal with no customer impact as of 11/18, 03:51 UTC. Our logs show the incident started on 11/18, 01:35 UTC and that during the 2 hours that it took to resolve the issue up to 10% of customers experienced errors loading Application Insights data in the Microsoft Azure Portal.
  • Root Cause: The failure was due to race condition in a back-end component.
  • Lessons Learned: We are investigating a permanent fix for this condition.
  • Incident Timeline: 2 Hours & 16 minutes - 11/18, 01:35 UTC through 11/18, 03:51 UTC.
