Experiencing Data Access Issue in Azure Portal for Many Data Types – 10/04 – Resolved

We've confirmed that all systems are back to normal with no customer impact as of  10/04 19:00 UTC. Our logs show the incident started on 10/04 18:07 UTC and that during the issue customers experienced issue accessing Search and  Metric Explorer features in though Azure portal.

  • Root Cause: The failure was due to unhealthy state of  API frontend service which was responsible fro serving customer queries.  
  • Lesson Learned: we are investigating the logs collected from unhealthy cluster for further details.

We understand that customers rely on Application Insights as a critical service and apologize for any impact this incident caused.

We are aware of issues within Application Insights and are actively investigating. Some customers may experience Data Access Issue in Azure Portal and App analytics portal. The following features are affected: metric explorer and Search explorer and app analytics .
