Experiencing Data Access Issue in Azure and Application Analytics Portal for Multiple Data Types – 08/29 – Resolved

We've confirmed that all systems are back to normal with no customer impact as of 8/29, 13:50 UTC. Our logs show the incident started on 8/29, 09:54 UTC and that during the 4 hours that it took to resolve the issue a very small subset of customers experienced data access issues at application analytics and azure portal. There are 2 applications whose subset of data is currently being re-processed and will experience some data gaps until restore process is completed.
  • Root Cause: The failure was due to performance degradation in downstream backend service.
  • Lessons Learned: We have collected required telemetry data during the impact period which we will utilize to avoid such re-ocurrances in future.

We are aware of issues within Application Insights and are actively investigating. Some customers may experience Data Access Issue in Azure and Application Analytics Portal. Customer impact is limited for only those applications which have started sending telemetry for the first time since 08/29/2016 09:54 AM UTC.Azure portal impact is limited to following data types: Availability,Metric,Trace.
