Experiencing Data Access Issue in Azure Portal for Availability Data Type – 08/24 – Resolved

Between 08/24 5:55 PM UTC and 08/24 9:15 PM UTC, up to 15% of customers may have experienced errors accessing analytics, search and metrics data due to an issue in one of our back end components.  We understand the root cause of the issue as related to a misconfiguration which was able to slip past our validation steps.

  • Root Cause: The failure was due to an automation error during a planned change which resulted in a misconfiguration.
  • Lessons Learned: We are investigating additional checks and balances during our automated change process to maintain code velocity while improving availability and reliability.
  • Incident Timeline: 3 Hours & 20 minutes - 08/24 6:50 PM UTC through 08/24 9:10 PM UTC
