Application Insights team has
identified & fixed issue in our services. Starting from 12/26/2015 03:01
UTC till 2/8/2016 01:10 UTC , Approx. 20% customer applications would
have seen data gap for exceptions data type if query time range was older than
7 days. We confirm that there is no data loss; Impact is limited to data gap
and we are working to re-process the data but there is no ETA on this.

  • Root Cause: The
failure was due to a configuration change in production service that is
responsible for processing exceptions data older than 7 days.

  • Lessons Learned: We
understand the root cause completely. Our team has implemented extra logic in
deployment process along with additional monitoring to avoid re-occurrence of
    similar issue.

  • Incident Timeline
    12/26/2015 03:01 UTC through 2/8/2016 01:10 UTC
