Experiencing Data Access Issue in Azure Portal – 10/5 – Resolved

We’ve confirmed that all systems are back to normal with no customer impact as of 10/6, 00:20 UTC. Our logs show the incident started on 10/5, 19:00 UTC and that during the ~5 hours that it took to resolve the issue 10% of customers experienced.

Root Cause: The failure was due to change in the routing configuration of query system.

We are aware of an issue within Application Insights . Less than 10 % customers apps may experience no data or partial data return while querying. This data is available in our system ; impact is limited to data reports. We understand the root cause as it has been caused by routing configuration in our query system. We are working hard to apply the mitigation and provide an update as we progress.

The following data types are affected: Availability, Customer Event, Dependency, Exception, Metric, Page Load, Page View, Performance Counter, Request.
