Experiencing Data Access Issue in Azure Portal – 9/17 – Resolved

We’ve confirmed that all systems are back to normal with no customer impact as of 9/18, 00:10 UTC. Our logs show the incident started on 9/17, 22:32 UTC and that during the 1.5 hours that it took to resolve the issue nearly 4% of data access queries were not getting data.

  • Root Cause: The failure was due to some compute instances running low on resource causing slowdown of data indexing.
  • Incident Timeline: 1 Hours & 38 minutes – 9/17, 22:32 UTC through 9/18, 00:10 UTC.

We are aware of issues within Application Insights and are actively investigating. Some customers may experience intermittent Data Access Issue. The following data types are affected: Availability, Customer Event, Dependency, Exception, Metric, Page Load, Page View, Performance Counter, Request, Trace.
