Experiencing Data Access Issue in Azure Portal – 6/11 – Resolved

We’ve confirmed that all systems are back to normal with no customer impact as of 6/11, 21:15 UTC. Our logs show the incident started on 6/11, 13:00 UTC and it took ~8 hours to resolve the issue that 10 % of customers experienced approx 10% query failures. 

Lessons Learned: We don’t have a confirmed root cause of this issue but we suspect that this might has been caused by one of the underlying service client which was running on older version . This client has been upgraded to newer version which has bug fixes related to connection timeouts in query system.

Root cause is still under investigation. To address this issue we have recycled the service that helped in decreasing failure rate. Some customers may experience  errors related to data access . We provide an update as we learn.

The following data types are affected: Availability, Customer Event, Dependency, Exception, Metric, Page Load, Page View, Performance Counter, Request, Trace.
