Windows Live Maps kudos – directions for humans

TechCrunch reported on how they thought Windows Live Maps was getting better. Their article is well written and highlights a lot of the new features. Dare’s post also drew my attention.

But it wasn’t till this weekend that I experienced the awesomeness first-hand. I got evited to a Halloween party courtesy my buddy Mario. I was looking up directions to the place, and I know for a fact that parts of Palo Alto are notorious for their hidden street signs so I was trying to pay extra close attention. I was pleasantly surprised when I saw this as I was looking up directions to the party :

How awesome is it that Windows Live Maps actually tells you that if you’ve reached a certain street, that you’ve gone too far.

Here’s a list of some of the new features laid out by the team.

This is great. You know what still sucks… is that if I was looking up directions and wanted to send it to my phone in a readable format, there is nothing out there that does it. I can deal with a simple sms message with ascii directions or even an email which I am pickup on the iPhone, but its 2007 and there is nothing that to simply send directions directly to your mobile device… or is there?
