So if you’ve ever wondered, why the heck doesn’t TFS talk to project Server for better resource management and enterprise level reporting? I mean, they are like peanut butter and jelly?!? Well they DO! We actually had a connector with TFS 2008 that connected to Project Server 2007, but it wasn’t an “easy button” solution. It was more of a huge, “complicated expensive button” solution. But now that’s over.
Our esteemed product teams have worked hard to release a connector to give you first class connectivity between Project Server 2007/2010 and TFS 2010. You can now download the Beta bits to enable the project server integration through your MSDN downloads and give it a try for yourself: http://blogs.msdn.com/b/bharry/archive/2010/12/07/portfolio-management-tfs-lt-gt-project-server-integration-in-beta.aspx. There is also a forum in case you have issues or questions with this: http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/tfsprojectsrvint
In addition to all of that, Notion Solutions is going to deliver some webcasts over the next few months to help you get up to speed on this offering, ask questions, and learn from their own experiences. The first one is ready to go, so please register below to learn all about it!
Implementing Project Server/TFS Integration to Solve the Agile/PMO Dilemma
Integration of Agile practices with EPM helps to improve visibility across the entire application development lifecycle, empowering project managers and developers to follow their own methodologies yet be connected seamlessly with each other. In this session, we provide an overview of the recently released Microsoft Team Foundation Server 2010 and Project Server 2010 Integration Community Beta. This integration lets Project managers track high-level requirements, while team leaders manage the details; enables Project managers to work in Project Server, which supports their workflow, while team leaders work in TFS, which supports theirs.
