DevCares presents:  Microsoft Silverlight In-Depth

Microsoft® Silverlight™ is a cross-browser, cross-platform plug-in for delivering the next generation of .NET based media experiences and rich interactive applications for the Web. You’ll learn about the different approaches to programming Silverlight and also see how Silverlight can be integrated with ASP.NET and AJAX. Finally, we’ll explore integrating media into Silverlight. Along the way you’ll see how to use various tools when working with Silverlight such as Expression Blend and Visual Studio 2008 (formerly code-named “Orcas”).

Session 1: Programming Silverlight:

This session illustrates the different programming approaches for Silverlight including managed code, dynamic languages and JavaScript in the browser. In it, we will focus on the different developer experiences from designing to debugging and deployment. You’ll also see how to interact with web resources from Silverlight, as well as how to program Silverlight using VB, C#, Python, and Ruby. Finally, in this session, we will explore the Silverlight SDK and demonstrate creating and using Silverlight controls.

Session 2: ASP.NET, AJAX and Silverlight:

This session highlights how to take common scenarios for web application UI and “light them up” using Silverlight. It ties Silverlight into the current ASP.NET stack and shows how to incorporate various ASP.NET services such as Membership and Personalization as well as Data Access. We will also show how to effectively use ASP.NET AJAX and Silverlight together.

  2. Lincolnshire != Chicago.

    The Chicago presentation is actually in Lincolnshire, which, in traffic is almost 2 hours away.

    The Woodridge one is actually closer to Chicago, but still an hour drive in traffic.

    Sorry, this looks like an interesting one…
