Why Choose Computer Science? Answers in Some Videos for Students

Thanks to a link from Diane Curtis in my group I found some interesting videos from the University of Washington. One called a Day in The Life has short interviews with some young women, recent Washington graduates, who now work at Microsoft, Google and Amazon. There is good information there about what work looks like in software engineering jobs.

The second video is called Power to Change the World and interviews about a dozen students, alumni and faculty from the computer science and engineering progrm at Washington who talk about why they chose computer science as a field.

Is there a way to get the videos in .mpg or .wmv or .avi?  I would like to send them to counselors on CDROM because our bandwidth is so limited.

I don’t know. You would have to contact the CSE department at UW because they own the videos. There is contact information at the bottom of the page I linked to. http://www.cs.washington.edu/education/ugrad/prospective/outreach.html
