Blogging from the east coast

I'm sure I've mentioned before that part of my job at Microsoft involves conducting training sessions; and three to four times a year the training occurs outside of Redmond. This week, I'm teaching in Boston (actually, North of Boston in Beverly, MA). The Groove offices are in Beverly, and a few testers from Softricity will also be coming up for the sessions. It's always fun to teach at remote sites. It gives me a chance to interact with people I wouldn't get a chance to see otherwise and in this case, gives me a chance to talk with people who are experienced, but haven't worked at Microsoft for very long (both companies are relatively recent acquisitions).

The twist with this training, is that they want to video tape both courses I'm teaching (note to Bj if he's reading this. They'll probably want to record you too). I don't mind being taped, but I warned them that the courses I'm teaching are primarily interactive and discussion based. I thought about changing the way I teach to accommodate this, but the courses work so well in this format that I'm reluctant to change too much of the flow. I think I can make some tweaks on the fly to make the courses beneficial to both live and recorded attendees...I just don't have a perfect plan yet.

Btw - I'm staying in Salem this week, and it's pleasantly quiet and calm here (the town seems to be recovering from the Halloween festivities). After last week when I had the flu for 3 days followed by an impromptu root canal, I need, and appreciate the break.
