Things to be considered while configuring Proxy Exception list for IE through group policy

PROBLEM DESCRIPTION

You are trying to set the proxy server and the exception list for the Internet explorer through the group policies and noticed that the policies weren’t getting applied properly.

Internet Explorer Maintenance -> Connections -> Proxy settings policy

SOLUTION:

The Proxy exception list is very sensitive to the syntax of the websites that are added. If there is a problem with this syntax, the full Proxy Setting policy would not apply to the user’s session. While populating the proxy exception list, one should also ensure the following

1.  An exception list beyond 255 characters only works after the update in KB 302224 is applied.

2. https:// should not be used with website names.

3. The websites listed should not have the virtual folder or webpage appended to it.

4. The websites should be separated using a semicolon ; only

5. It is normally advised to modify the exception something as *website*.
