I am Slackware Linux

You are Slackware Linux. You are the brightest among your peers, but are often mistaken as insane. Your elegant solutions to problems often take a little longer, but require much less effort to complete.
Which OS are You?

For the record – I work on Windows, BTW 🙂

Maybe if (people like) you spent more time working on Windows and less time doing silly surveys then Vista wouldn’t be delayed until 2007.

Derek – with all due respect but that’s not what Vista got delayed. The biggest delay appeared due to unscheduled delays due to more stringent security checking that was introduced in the last years. It was a necessary step, but not one that was envisioned at the time of the original planning (in 2001? or even earlier).

I remember the initial security push that halted development on the whole OS for a month. Any project, no matter on what priority (except high security bugs) was delayed and everyone worked on security issues.

Or, I can remember the +1.5 year delay on XP SP2. Or, the work on WS03 SP1. But, looking retrospectively, all these unexpected delays were entirely justified.

And – no – Windows is not less secure than other OSes or software projects out there. It’s just that it is a lot more exposed than any other software product that was written so far. Security has to be really pushed to the next level.
