The new MSN Search rocks!

I was just looking this morning to beta.search.msn.com – the MSN guys did an amazing work. I thought we went to catch up google but now it looks like we are way ahead in terms of usability. But this is just my personal opinion – go ahead and take a look for yourself!

Some cool features:
– The index covers five billion web pages and it is almost instantaneous. And this is just a beta site.
– Finally the search works right. My standard search on Win32 API of choice (CoInitializeSecurity) and on my name returns the right stuff.
– The web page loads fast enough such I can set it now as my home page.
– The search builder is way cool: you have a simple, drop dead interface for pretty complex stuff like: recently updated pages, popularity, etc.

I am still learning so this is just what I saw in the first 10 minutes!

The thing I most miss and the reason I probably won’t use it is because it lacks a newsgroup search. I hope that’s added in the future.

The MSN search has a good chance to become #1 – the day, when they will understand, what is relevancy.
