Microsoft My Phone Service

Microsoft released Windows Mobile 6.5 last week.  With the release of 6.5, Microsoft also provided couple of new services namely Windows Marketplace for Mobile (With Windows Marketplace for Mobile you can find and download the latest apps for your phone) and Microsoft My Phone (Service to sync your phone and data to the web so it’s backed up and accessible).

The My Phone service provides some interesting features which can pretty useful. I have summarized some of the features as below:

  • Backup Phone content automatically to web
    • Information from your Windows Phone is backed-up to a password protected (Windows Live ID) site. In case you loose/ upgrade your phone you need not copy all contacts/messages from old phone to new, but you can just sync it with the web and your new phone is ready with all the required information.

  • Send Photos to your PC and Social Networking site
    • Most of us would have liked to click a photo from your mobile and upload it instantly to Facebook/Flickr/MySpace or Windows Live site. WM 6.5 provides this much awaited feature.

  • Finding your lost phone
    • The My Phone service can show you the last known location of your phone on a map (based on where it last synced or shared photos using My Phone).

  • Access Contacts/text message/appointment online
    • How many times have we lost charge on our phone/forgot phone in car and want to call a friend but does not have his/her contact number. As the My Phone Service syncs up all this information online, you can just view all the data online.
